Darts lecturer – Elizabeth Handley – will question whether this father was overly ambitious for his famous son or whether he was a composer and pedagogue of note in his own right. Elizabeth is an accredited lecturer with The Arts Society, UK (formerly NADFAS). She played the harpsichord and flute in various Baroque ensembles, and sang in Richard Cock’s Symphony Choir of Jhb. She was also a radio programme compiler and music producer at the SABC, and then assistant to an impresario, organising concert tours for overseas artists throughout Southern Africa. Before transferral to Sweden she presented pre-concert talks for the JPO. She has been teaching adults musical history and appreciation for many years in SA, and more recently in Stockholm, and London. She currently tutors English in Stockholm, and is the editor of her own online culture-travel magazine: www.joiedevivremagazine.com
